4F at West Kirby September 1960 The photograph shows an ex-LMS 4F loco standing at the platform at West Kirby joint station in September 1960, having arrived from Hooton with a train of vans.

It is thought that these are empty vans for the Cadbury's factory at Moreton, having travelled from Cadbury's at Bourneville.  The loco was noted as being allocated to Alsager, so the train is likely to have been routed from Birmingham via secondary lines.

The train is waiting to gain access onto the electrified line from West Kirby to Birkenhead.  It will need to be fitted in between the regular passenger trains serving this part of the Wirral.

Once the vans had been filled at Cadbury's factory, they would be taken out via Bidston on their way back to to Bourneville.

I think the loco may be 44405, at least that is the one I intend to model to represent this train.
